I recently purchased 2 Xbox 360 controllers for my PC and was curious to whether or not it would work. I have some good news for you, even though it didn't say that W8 was supported on the package it works flawlessly. I have been enjoying multiple different racing and platform games and have had 0 issues.

Has anyone else tried this and how was your experience?

I never bothered playing with a XBOX 360 controller on my computer, I prefer the mouse and keyboard everyday.

There are some games that are better to play with a controller, also you can just lay back and play from the couch or so ^^
Are the 360 controllers connected by USB? If so there shouldn't be a problem at all on any OS.

I don't like controllers period, but if people want them and they come in USB or some wireless config. Then why not!

Although, would the computer know the device n' install the appropriate drivers to make it work?

Yes, especially being designed by microsoft themselves, it gets recognized with no problems.

It should work if you can plug it into the computer or connect it by a wireless adapter.

I just bought a wireless keyboard and mouse combo for my laptop which said that it works with Windows XP upto Windows 7, but works flawlessly with Windows 8. And, coincidentally, I'm also planning to buy an Xbox 360 wireless controller to play games on my laptop and PC. I love that controller, but it's a bit pricey in my country.
