I recently found many application save to correct type. Some software icons would come out to a blank or white block, but those software actually there. For example, realrecorder is running, it would come out a white block on taskbar on bottom. I tried use 'access and program default' in control panel, still not fix the issue. Ms word, and word pad also come out white blank icon.

    Any suggestions ?

    Welcome to the Win8Forums.

Have you tried change video resolutions and see what happens?

Just try any, just to see if you can see the icons.

    so you found
    IconCache.db
    In the C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local (folder)
    and you deleted it.
And then you rebooted your machine
and it had no impact at all on the problem you are experiencing?

If you right click on the launcher responsible for launching the program and choose properties can you select the shortcut tab and the change icon button and select the proper icon from among the choices?

Actually I don't think it is a problem with Windows. More to do with the application having an icon at a particular color resolution.

If you start up Intel HD Graphics Control Panel and then minimize it, and see the correct icon in the taskbar then it is the application NOT Windows problem.
