I am already using AVG. That means I will have to uninstall my AVG to use this Windows Defender. Any information on the pros and cons of Windows Defender?

Well off the top of my head, it updates along with Windows Update, so the update is more streamlined I think. It's integrated with windows, so all in all it should seem invisible and clean. Honestly I haven't worked with Windows Defender much, I'm an ESET fanboy.

I have trouble trusting any software that's part of the OS (like IE, Windows Defender, even the copy and zip manager, I install TeraCopy and 7zip). The only MS products I use are Windows as an OS, and Office.
