In the article it mentions ARM, so presumably they will work fine on other machines? I am running Windows 8 CP and have firefox installed it works great, I also had Chrome and that worked fine as well, but since Firefox has been updated prefer that to Chrome.

This appears only to affect the ARM version of Windows 8. Doesn't really bother me much since I have no great desire to have Windows power any of my portable devices.

The Arm version is the one that is being limited. The standard versions from what I hear will not be effected.

To me this doesn't make sense, unless Microsoft didn't really have a choice. I mean, why would they limit something only on one version?

Wow, I suddenly dislike the choices they have made.

I'm sticking with my intel chips, I've been using them for 13 years anyway.

It would be arrogant and foolhardy to limit an OS to use one kind of browser. This would be a seriously bad move on the part of microsoft.

The original article is a year old. There is an unsubstantiated rumour that there will be a Firefox version for RT, but I think it is unlikely.

Meanwhile, it has never been suggested that FF would not run in the standard Laptop or Desktop, windows 8/8.1 installations.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! I really hope they don't plan to ban Chrome and Firefox, now that would be a very bad move! It'd feel as we are living in some kind of really suppressive government, but now it has moved to the computer realm! I just bought this computer, so I don't feel like upgrading if this ever happens, but I honestly hope this is nothing but a lie!!!
