So I was wondering, there's been many rumours of the Xbox 360 being compatible with Windows 8, but I'd like to know if there is actually any truth whatsoever behind these rumours, and if they are true how will the implementation work exactly?

Yeah, I believe it's the first-time ever Microsoft have been able to keep secrets without employees giving them all away :D

Thanks for providing me with that link to the article, I'll go check it out now.

Well it seems like there is a lot of integration of Xbox live in windows 8, so even if you won't be able to run XBOX games in windows 8, Microsoft might take the next step and let you run games in windows 9.

It'll be even better news for non-Xbox owners who want to play xbox only games like halo 3 and halo 4.

Actually the current consoles are at least 2 generations behind pcs in terms of processing power. The latest graphic cards will just kill most gaming consoles

It would indeed be a great. I´'ve also heard rumours regarding this, I just heard that it would help bring back the retail sales of the games... somehow.

Yah, it would as not everyone has an Xbox, but almost everyone will have a PC therefore making the potential market share bigger.

Maybe Microsoft employs security precautions different from Apple? Maybe there isn't any secret to leak?

Yes, it very much will work. In Consumer Preview Windows Media Center which is the same version in Windows 7, has a tab for adding a extender. The Xbox 360 to my knowledge is the only extender that's still being sold. Als there are 2 different Xbox tabs in Metro's Start screen. I don't know if they'll be in Windows 8 RT, but they'll be in Windows 8 & Windows 8 Pro. As far as using it as a extender, you'll need Windows 8 Pro with the Media Center addon. It's going to be treated as a Anytime Upgrade for Pro, but they've changed what they call it now. It's no longer being called Windows Anytime Upgrade.

I'm actually very certain yes Windows 8 will be compatible with the Xbox 360. If not, I'm not seeing why they won't bridge both of them together.

That sounds awesome! I'd love this to happen, so other people can play the XBOX on their computers, and I can use the XBOX downstairs!

It would be awesome if this were indeed the case.

I do hope that Windows programs and the X-Box 360 will hold increased codec support for video and audio files though. Currently, I use Zune media player as my (favorite) default media player, and I have to switch to VLC to watch or listen to over half of my content. Especially since the X-Box has no Blu-Ray drive; Does this mean that you can stream a Blu-Ray video from your computer to your X-Box on-the-fly?

I imagine they'd have to atleast consider it. It couldn't hurt to add this as a feature.

If nothing else you can imagine the 3rd party 360 games companies would be increasing their player base considerably. Allowing this to happen (which you know can due to developers working on their games on pc's) would be a brilliant move.

Yeah but how to get it on board without causing peoples computers to lockup or crash or go BSOD is the issue. People think these nik naks and add ons sound cool. Until they onload them and the computer slows to a crawl. But if anyone can figure it out it's microsoft.

Although I really don't know for sure, I think it will have to be a very bold step. Windows 8 in my view seems like a hit or miss sort of situation. I'm always excited for new features and changes to the Xbox, but this makes me nervous. It could turn out not work as planned.
