    Regarding Edit option disappearance......
Does it have anything to do with the fact that the thread has been replied?

    editing....
No, that is not it either.
Most of my posts do not have the Edit option anymore. Why is that?

Maybe Ian can come up with the answer to that. very baffling. When I look at your link, it shows edit, but maybe that is for me, as a moderator. Ditto with several of your posts which I picked at random.
But first, this particular format, which is now sweeping through the internet forums, is far from ready for prime time. If you are using IE, try the compatibility mode for, at least, this site. Try another browser and see how you get on.

I'm using Chrome, and now it's missing from mine as well....it used to be there as I've edited my posts a bunch of times for grammar and forgetfulness of a word or to. It's just gone now.....

    It is getting interesting.......

    I used F12 key > emulation Mode > User agent string > select IE10.
Result : first 2 of my posts in this thread has no Edit option, but the last 2 do have Edit.
    use IE10.jpg

It has to be a setting on this forum format...on the other forum I use, it's using XenForo and the edit tab is there all the time.

I just replied and it shows up...soon as I leave and come back, the option to edit is missing.

I believe, as is the case on most forums, that the ability for one to edit his or her's own post is time sensitive and the edit button only remains for a predetermined length of time. Once that time (whatever it is) has elapsed, your ability to edit your post is gone. Often as short as 15 minutes on a lot of forums.

As of now, all my posts in this thread are VOID of Edit option, except this one.

Looks like the time limit holds true.

That said, I know at least one forum where the Edit option never expires.

Apart from BassFisher's post, there don't appear to be any other posts supporting your problem. It is obviously something in the site script, as I cannot see an outside, third party program being capable of deleting one single item.

As Dave mentioned, there's a time limit on editing posts, as we've had spammers come back and edit posts to add links to old threads - so it's missed from moderation. Moderators and admins can always edit posts, but members have a 120 minute time limit.

If this looks like it's going to be a problem, then I can see if there's a way to change the edit time limit if the user has 50 posts or more (or something like that). Alternatively, you can always drop me (or any of the mods) a PM and we'll get it fixed for you :).

I have no problem with that, as long as I know the reason why and that it is not because of my computer or the programs it is running.
I have had participated in many forums, this time limit is new to me.
    Thank you.

It's serious. I was watching a news item a couple of days ago. Spammers and hackers could bring the internet and Email onto it's knees.
The only good side effect then would be that they would be out of the hobby which they seem to enjoy - lol.
