We live in the boonies near Mazatlan Mexico and our only internet option is a 3G mobile internet stick. I want to be able to have multiple devices using that connection. They want about $600 for a 3G router, so I'm really hoping to not have to go that route.

I googled how to create an ad-hoc network for Windows 8 and created an SSID but how do I make the internet actually work? It connects fine but nothing loads.

    Thanks in advance.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I will give this a try now that we are on Windows 8. Maybe I'll have better luck (wishful thinking I'm sure) as I believe I've tried something like this before as well as a downloaded program that was supposed to make a hot spot out of your connection.
