How to unlock the folder in windows8?

    Did you run that command from an elevated (run as admin) command prompt?

    i run in adminstrator command prompt..
    same problem...
    i locked before in windows7..but now i am unlocking in windows 8 !!
    see in the first photo in 1.2011..i can't see lock logo folder look like this..

    Run the attached. It will place a new item in your registry. After that, whenever you right click a folder/file, you will see an option to "Take ownership". This would be used in the normal gui, not through a command prompt.

    fwiw. I don't use command prompts and parameters a lot, but why have you got the " at the end?
