How do I get Half-Life 2 and Portal to run on Windows 8?

    My little brother is a big fan of these two games: Half-Life 2 and Portal. Both don't seem to run on Windows 8. Was anybody able to run this game? Is there any update available? My brother really wants to play these games. These games were running good on previous operating systems of Windows. Any fix, please? Thanks in advance! :(

    What happens when you try to launch them? Any error messages?

    Also, did you install the latest graphics drivers?

    I haven't yet seen what occurs, as I've been a lot busy these days. I have asked my brother to run it as administrator and in Windows XP SP3 as well as Windows 7 compatibility mode but he says that it doesn't seem to work. I'll check it out and post some more information here. As far as the graphic drivers are concerned, they are the latest ones and are compatible with Windows 8 64-bit. I'm using an NVIDIA GT240 by the way. Most of the games are working fine, though.

    Maybe you need to update some drivers or it could be windows 8.

    Oh maybe re-install the games. A file could be corrupt.
