I found a way to to disable or not show recent search entries in the explorer search box for Windows 7 and was wondering if anyone knew how to do it for Windows 8.1?

    Thanks

Go to the Search Charm and type in:
    Code:
    gpedit.msc

right click on it and select "Run as Administrator"

Go to: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> File Explorer,

Look for "Turn off display of recent search entries in the Windows Explorer search box" on the right side.
Select it then set it to "Disabled"
Click OK to set it and exit.
    Close gpedit

Press Windows Key + R type in
    gpupdate /force
    Click OK.

    Should now work.
