Damn if I didn't hit the nail on the head concerning Windows Media Center

    This article with Microsoft talking about Windows Media Center & DVD playback prove my assumption to be correct. Windows Media Center & DVD playback are going to be what Microsoft is now calling Windows Anytime Upgrade. The new name for it is the Add Features To Windows 8 Control Panel. Windows Media Player still won't support DVD playback, only Media Center will. I'll bet one WMC Pack is $129.95 and the other to bw $159.95,.
