I've only tried a few games as of yet and will list those below. Does anyone else have a game that will either run or not under Windows 8?
So far I've found games that will run are:

Half-Life series (Under STEAM of course)
    Supreme Commander 2
    L4D
    L4D2
    Fallout: New Vegas
    Crysis 2

The only game that I've found that won't run so far is: DiRT 2
I'll add to this as I test more but if anyone has some input then please post.. :)

These all work fine for me (although I've barely played them!):

    COD:MW
    COD:MW2
    Batman Arkham City

    F.E.A.R.
    F.E.A.R. 2
    Dead Space

I can't believe how good games look under this os.. I'll be playing through my entire library again for the pretties alone.. :)

Yayyyy I can now add DiRT 2 to the list too... In the end it was a obscure start up exe I found in the games explorer folder (found via Program Data) that proved to be the solution. As to why I'm still unsure... Investigation continues but hey. It's working! :)

Tried World of Warcraft. Works fine. Latency and frames rates are about the same with Windows 7, though. I was hoping I could get better results with Windows 8.

I'm not sure if Team Fortress would work with Windows 8 but I've heard it can. I would make sure before you download it as it might screw up your computer.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim & Microsoft Flight both work. I just got Skyrim this week and have it all modded out with mod's PC Gamer recommended.

    My experience is the same.
At first, though it took me a little bit to realize what was going on; it acted as if I had no graphics card installed. Come to find out, Windows 8 was incompatible with my current setup (Go-figure) and I had to visit AMD's driver support center to install a brand-new and overly laggy Windows 8 RP driver.

In the end though, Minecraft still works, and I'm happy.

    • Crysis
    • Crysis 2

    Update.

Latest patch of World of Warcraft with Mists of Pandaria works fine with Windows 8. Just tested it.

I'll add some games to your working list:
    -Dota 2
    -Heroes of Neworth
    -Portal 1 and 2
    -Call of duty series

I think only a few games are not compatible with Windows 8. Well, for now everygame I've played are working fine!

    Counter Strike runs!

My computer is not the best to play games so I must stick myself with low requirement ones.

Tomshardware sometime ago published an article comparing gaming on Win7 vs Win8 on the same hardware , most of the games ran equally with some rare glitches on Win8 part , but that was earlier this year ... So , by just moving from Win 7 to Win 8 don't expect a huge difference !

I've had some issues trying to run GTA IV on Windows 8, was a lot more stuttering and unresponsive compared to Windows 7. But, GTA IV had the worst PC port ever to exist in the history of PC ports. It doesn't surprise me.
