    Windows 8.1 Pro RTM

The picture I am hoping to change is the first pic I will see when I turn on the computer.
It is the first picture before I get to the Sign In page.

P.S. I am using my Win 7 laptop to post this question because my Win 8.1 Pro laptop does not allow me to use this forum's "upload a File" option. It gives me an error, telling me the upload file is empty. Naturally it is NOT empty, because it is the same file uploaded here.

Is it the IE11 handy work again?

That is what they call the lock screen.

Open the Charms (stooped name) - Settings - Change settings

Yes, the Lock screen image can be changed. I'm using Windows 8 however, so I'm unsure of if 8.1 uses the same step's to change it as 8 does. It will definitely be in the Charms on the right of your screen (either top right or lower right corner), then click Settings and from there click on the various settings until you find the Lock/Lock Screen. Now, click on whatever image you want and restart your pc for the change to take effect.

    Thank you.
Found the option. Not a lot of choices, but better than the one I had.

    David.

When you are in the Lock screen options, choose browse. From there you can "go up". You can choose any picture you have in your picture section(s) I have my favourite cat on mine!

    Thank you.
Mine was a new install ( 3-4 days old). I have yet to have any pictures in my Pictures folder.
Will transfer some from my Win 7 laptop later.

    Just back. Early morning here.

Ref your pictures. A convenient way to order them, for the lockscreen and others, is to place your own pictures of choice in the original folder(s).
The lock screen images are in C:\Windows\Web.
The Start screen images in the Screensub- folder.
Windows 8's new wallpapers in the sub-Wallpapers folder

    Thank you.
It is not necessary, in my case.
I'll keep it simple..... all pictures in Pictures folder.
That way, whether I want to change the Lock Screen picture, Account picture or Picture Password, I just go to one source for it....... Pictures folder.

I thought I changed mine simply by clicking the icon and then pressing "browse" and finding the picture. If that doesn't work, I'm sure going to the control panel and then pressing the appearance and display options would have a place where you can change the picture.
