I only use IE for MSN Games and I use a couple of add-ons so I wasn't much interested in the UI version of IE10.
Out of curiosity I deecided to give it a try; so I made sure IE10 was default browser etc etc and then clicked the IE10 tile on the start screen: all I get is a nice blue screen with the "e" logo in the centre.

But isn't it a lovely shade of blue? There are plenty more apps just as great, right there in the Windows Store.

Okay, seriously though, try updating your W8 apps from the Windows Store. If it doesn't help, uninstall the IE10 app and reinstall it.

Due to other %$^&* circumstances I had to do a re-install of W8.
    Everything now works.

However seriously considering going back to W7 if I hit another bump. :(

I remember you could do MSN games on other browsers than IE? There was some sort of plugin which would emulate your browser as an Internet Explorer agent, giving you access to IE exclusive stuff. Not sure, though.
