    Hi,

I have an old Asus A8V-X motherboard. This is 2005 vintage.

    http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Socket_939/A8VX/

It goes perfectly well. Under W7 32bit all the PCI slots worked.

I did a fresh upgrade to W8 32bit, which mostly succeeded. Everything works fine except the PCI slots.

The chipset for this board is: VIA K8T800 Pro / VT 8251

I have read elsewhere that people have had the same problem with W7 64bit.

Asus does not provide drivers beyond XP for this board. Shame on them!

I have the latest BIOS, and know that the PCI slots worked prior to W8, so I believe this is either a W8 configuration issue or a W8 drivers issue.

    I tried this:

    1. Open command prompt (Administrator) in safe mode
    2. Type the following

    bcdedit /set CONFIGACCESSPOLICY DISALLOWMMCONFIG

    3. Exit command prompt

Which had helped others with the same problem in W764bit, but it made no difference to me.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

That chipset is ten years old. I wouldn't bet on finding drivers for it. If other people have gotten it to work with W8, then I guess there's hope, but I would highly recommend upgrading to something more recent.
