recently a friend of mine installed windows 8 on my PC but he did not create a separate partition. Since then I attempted to boot my pc using the cd drive first, but windows 8 starts and then it shows that i should boot the windows xp install disk. when I attempted to delete windows using command prompt, access was denied. What did I do wrong? or what should I do?

Just to confirm, you had Windows XP installed, then Windows 8 was installed in the same partition (without formatting or removing the XP install)? Was this an upgrade install that kept your personal files?

Could you paste in the exact message that asks you to boot from the XP install disk, as I'm not sure why it would ask this at any point.
