So like most people I use the built in background image manager, and as is pretty standard I place a number of pictures into a folder and let them run on shuffle. But sense I switched to Win 8 I have run into a number of issues. Some images will not be pulled from the pool [even if i set it to shift sequentially], often times the image wont shift [I have it set to shift once an hour] sometimes for days at a time. I have spent some time looking around but have not found to much related to this issue and have not been able to find the source of the issue.

The main questions I have are:

Are there specific file types that do better or that should be avoided to increase stability?
Are there any lightweight alternative programs that would be more stable?
Or do I just simply need to keep the pool under a certain size?

Any information that might help out would be appreciated, the issue does not prevent normal use but is very, very annoying.
